Hello! Nominations proceed apace. We have some reminders and clarifications.

General Kink Tags Note
Kink tags should be kinks, sex acts, or otherwise clearly sexual in nature. They should also be a fairly straightforward element to include in a fanwork -- Smu4Smut freeforms aren't intended for multi-step prompt directions. If you're trying to fit "Characters do X, then Y, then Z, while ABC happens" in a tag, consider including that as an optional details prompt instead.

Also, if you nominated kink tags in the first few hours after nominations opened, you may need to re-nominate them. We had to clear nominations to allow previous participants to nominate this year.

General "Any" Note
We're accepting "Specific Character/Any Character" type tags, but want to remind nominators that we will interpret that tag extremely literally within that fandom. If you request Lyney/Any Character (Genshin Impact), you can't Do Not Want incest, because "any character" would include Lynette or Freminet.

General Formatting Note
Please alphabetize your ship nominations, and please check whether the fandom is already in the tag set with a particular disambiguation.

"this tag already exists as character"
If you have to nominate a ship tag in a weird format because the correct format already exists as a character... please let us know so we don't try to fix it and then hit the error ourselves.

A Song of Ice and Fire & Related Fandoms
Please pick a version. The book series, the Game of Thrones show, and House of the Dragon should be separate for this exchange.

We have a few changes for 2023:

1. Nominations Time: Please note the nominations period is only a week this year -- this is to accommodate mod schedules. So, get your tags in ASAP!

2. Art Requirements: We have updated the rules to specify that AI-generated art cannot be used to fill art assignments.

3. No Extensions: We will not be granting extensions this year. Please plan accordingly when posting your assignments.

Additionally: If you notice any kink tags that are re-wordings of the same exact concept, we'd appreciate a heads-up! You can comment on this or any nominations clarification post.

• Please no fandom-specific kink tags, with exceptions for clearly sexual AU/fusion tags that can be used by a broad range of fandoms.

Notes on original works:
Same-gender groups should go under F/F or M/M.
Mixed-gender groups (for example, F/M/M, F+/M) should go under F/M.

If the genders in your tag are ambiguous, try to include the ship configuration at the end of the tag -- (M/M), (F/F), (F/F/M), etc. This will help us put tags in the correct place if they wander!

Please avoid nominating fandoms as “All Media Types.”

Nominate closely-linked canons of the same media type under the umbrella name -- for example, Marvel Cinematic Universe instead of individual movies, and Star Wars Cinematic Universe instead of separating the prequel and sequel movies.

Nominations are open now until February 13 at 8 p.m. EST! (Fandoms & Ships Tag Set | Kink Tag Set) And we have a couple changes this year:

1. For Signups: We’re no longer using “Optional Tags” in requests or offers, due to the number of administrative problems they cause for us every year. This means each request and offer will be limited to a max of 20 kink tags instead of 40. If you want more than 20 kinks for a specific fandom, you can request that fandom twice.

2. For Nominations: This year we’re implementing a separate tag set for kink tags, pre-populated with kink tags from last year. This is a smaller change -- it’s the same thing we did last year, we just didn’t use a separate tag set yet :)

Please note we’ve deleted some previous tags that were outside the scope of the exchange (Example: Alternate Universe - Witchcraft), and edited others for organizational purposes (Example: adding the “Kiss -” prefix to “Kiss - Desperate Kissing in the Rain”).

If you have questions about a deleted or edited tag, please let us know. We definitely won’t be re-adding the basic AU tags, but in general, it’s a big tag set and we’re not perfect.
